Amps and Apertures #2 is a photography/art/rock show put on once a year by the Bay Area's favorite rock photographer - Shannon Corr. This show turns two this year. It will be held at The Ghost Town Galleries at 2519 San Pablo in Oakland.

Amps and Apertures really is the coolest thing going. All the cool kids come and even wear the leg warmers in. Amps and Apertures features photographers well as other bay area artists and bands. Contributing artists have included, Shannon Corr, Ammo photography, Joe Bansuelo, Scott Vanvelsor,Dan Borchardt, Ryon Gesnick and more.

Come on out to the second annual Amps and Apertures Friday December 5th. This year the artists will be: Shannon Corr, Uri Korn, Alex Hernandez, Lim Thompson and Tracy Timmins. Bands will be: Hurry Up Shotgun, Mount Vicious, The Family Curse, Silian Rail and The Turks.

Amps and Apertures rides along with Oakland’s “First Fridays”

Something happens in Oakland every first Friday of each month. It may be a murmur, but it’s something that shows serious life in Oakland’s working class art scene. Each first Friday, Oakland explodes with fresh art and music by way of the Oakland Art Murmur Oakland Art Murmur is a coalition of art and cultural venues dedicated to increasing popular awareness of and participation in the arts in Oakland, with an emphasis on visual art. They promote visual art in Oakland through collective marketing and outreach efforts and their monthly First Friday events, which are open to the public and attended by hundreds of local and visiting art enthusiasts.

This November’s first Friday has an unofficial addition to the growing art scene… Amps and Apertures. Organized by Oakland’s very own Shannon Corr, A & A features independent live music and live music photography, mashed together in a premier event.

On the creation of this event, Corr says, “I had the idea of having a show where the bands playing are also contributing the art works. I've been playing in bands for years and have been in photo shows so I thought, why not combine the two? “

The premier show will happen Friday, November 2 at the Ghost Town Gallery. Featuring both touring and local bands, the show will also feature work from budding photographers, sculptures, and writers as well. When asked of the frequency of this new party, Corr declares “I will be trying to do an Amps and Apertures show on at least quarterly. I hope to put these on regularly and have the bands and art to coincide each time.
